Contribution Agreement for Citizenship and Immigration

SALAS has a three-year Contribution Agreement from 2010 to 2013 for a total of $448,872 to assess 425 clients (Permanent Residents) in Lethbridge and Brooks in 2010, 475 in 2011, and 525 in 2013.

SALAS employs Six assessors: Carol Darmody, Sue Mitchell, Lucelle Prindle, Judy Hasinoff, Cheryl Fujikawa, Marie Schooten and an Administrative Assistant, Linda Flaman. All seven of us are involved in completing the requirements of the CIC-SALAS Agreement.

Again, as part of our Agreement, we supply each client with a portfolio, describing the assessment that was conducted, an explanation of the benchmarks, and further contact information for language providers in Lethbridge. In Lethbridge we refer clients to Flexibility Learning Systems for English classes or to their Employability program and to the Lethbridge College for English classes. Salas also provides referrals to community agencies.

In Brooks, clients are referred to the LINC (Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada) classes held at the Brooks Community Adult Learning Centre, to Medicine Hat College at their Brooks Campus and to other appropriate areas.

Referrals come to SALAS from our service providers (Lethbridge College or Flexibility Learning Systems or Brooks), from the School Districts, or from former clients, Lethbridge Family-Immigrant Services, Fifth on Fifth Ready Set Go Program, from our brochures, or from our advertising efforts through Welcome Wagon, etc.
